Map Reading And Navigation Skills Class 08/02/23

The Adventure Club is running a navigation skills evening with the mountain leaders from Explore More on Wednesday 8th of February. This will be an introduction to map reading and compass workshop in our Carrickmines store. The following topics will be covered:

1. Types of Map, Features & Symbols, Aligning a map
2. Using Grid References
3. Understanding contour lines
4. Measuring distance, Calculating duration of a leg
5. Parts of a compass, taking a Grid Bearing, converting to magnetic

All the required gear (maps and compasses) will be provided by the guides on the night. The class should run for roughly 2 hours.
