Craghoppers' durable water-repellent (DWR) finish, applied to the face fabric so rain and water-based stains bead up and roll off rather than soaking in. It is PFC-free and at least half plant-based, from a renewable source, so it avoids the forever chemicals used in older treatments. On a waterproof garment it works with the membrane to keep the piece breathable as well as dry; on a softshell, insulated jacket or trousers it helps shed light rain without making them fully waterproof.

Insect protection that comes from the construction of the fabric itself, with no chemical treatment involved. The cloth is woven from tightly constructed fibres that are too dense for mosquitoes and other biting insects to penetrate, forming a physical barrier against bites. Because the defence is built into the weave rather than applied to the surface, it protects without any chemical on the cloth, which suits anyone who would rather avoid treated fabrics.

Craghoppers' sun-protective fabric, rated UPF 40+. It is tested to block in the region of 97 to 98 percent of UV rays across both UVA and UVB, and the protection is engineered into the cloth through its density, the type of yarn used and the colour, rather than added as a surface coating, so it does not wash out.
