About the brand

Smartwool

Smartwool is an American brand, founded in 1994 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado by ski instructors Peter and Patty Duke. Frustrated by cold, wet feet on the slopes, they turned to merino wool and created the first performance merino ski socks, changing what outdoor people expected from their socks.

Merino remains the key ingredient in almost everything Smartwool makes. Socks are still the heart of the range, from hiking and running to skiing and everyday wear, alongside base layers, mid layers and other apparel.
