Vango Camping Cookware for Camp Kitchens

Vango camp cookware covers the basics of cooking in the field - pots, cook sets and accessories sized from solo boiling to group cooking, built to nest together and pack efficiently. The range focuses on practical performance: heating quickly on a canister stove, handling repeated use, and packing back into a bag without taking up disproportionate space.

Cook set vs individual pot: which to choose

A cook set includes a matched set of pots and often a lid that doubles as a frying surface, all nesting into one compact unit - the practical choice if you want a complete camp kitchen from one purchase. An individual pot suits campers who already have some cookware and want to add a specific capacity, or who want to keep pack weight as low as possible for a minimalist setup.

Lids, handles and nesting: what cookware design looks like in practice

A cook set lid that doubles as a frying pan removes the need to carry a separate pan - this is common across Vango's nested sets and reduces both item count and packed volume. Folding handles that lock in place when cooking and fold flat when packed prevent cookware from catching on other items in a bag. Sets are sized to stack inside each other, so the full cook kit occupies the space of the largest pot rather than the combined volume of each piece separately.

Frequently asked questions

What camping cookware material is best?

Aluminium is the standard choice: lightweight, good heat conductivity and affordable. Hard-anodised aluminium is more durable and scratch-resistant, making it better for regular use over many trips, but it costs more and adds a small amount of weight. Stainless steel is the most durable of all but heavier than aluminium, which makes it better suited to campsite cooking than backpacking.

What size cook set do I need for camping?

A 0.9 to 1.3 litre pot is enough for solo cooking. Two people need at least 1.5 litres, and a set with a 2 litre pot handles groups of three to four comfortably. For family camping where you cook full meals rather than just boiling water, choose a larger set that includes a pan as well as a pot.

Is Vango cookware compatible with all camp stoves?

Vango pots and cook sets have flat bases designed to sit on the burner heads of standard canister and liquid fuel stoves. Check the diameter of the pot base against your stove's burner head: very small ultralight stoves with narrow supports can be unstable with large pots. Vango cookware is not designed for use on open fires, though it will work in a pinch on a grate above controlled flames.

How do I clean camping pots in the field?

Deglaze the pot with a small amount of water while it is still warm after cooking, which lifts most residue without scrubbing. A lightweight scraper and a small sponge handle the rest. Where a campsite has water facilities, a small amount of biodegradable soap and a thorough rinse is fine. In the backcountry, carry out all food waste and avoid washing directly in waterways.
