About the brand

Salomon

Salomon is a French brand, founded in 1947 in Annecy in the heart of the French Alps. It began in a small workshop where François Salomon, helped by his wife and son Georges, made saw blades and steel ski edges. From there it grew into a world leader in ski bindings and boots, always driven by mountain sports and alpine innovation.

Today Salomon is best known for trail running and hiking footwear, alongside skis, apparel and packs. Models like the Speedcross and the X Ultra carry decades of that engineering, with grippy Contagrip outsoles, the Quicklace system for a fast secure fit, and the SensiFit wrap that holds the foot in place. Everything is still developed at the Annecy Design Centre, close to the mountains that shaped the brand.
