That’s why maintaining Durable Water Repellency (DWR) is essential. Over time, DWR wears away and needs to be renewed with Nikwax Nubuck & Suede Proof™.

When to Use Nikwax Nubuck & Suede Proof™
If your boots or shoes are soaking up water, start by cleaning them with Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel™. For newer or recently treated footwear, cleaning may be enough to revive DWR. But once your footwear has been well used, you’ll need to reproof with Nubuck & Suede Proof™ after cleaning.

Dirt and conventional detergents both weaken Durable Water Repellency. Detergents leave behind water-attracting residues, while dirt itself blocks performance. How to Apply Nikwax Nubuck & Suede Proof™

Important: Shake bottle before use. Always clean footwear first with Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel™.

Sponge Application

Protect work surface from potential overspray.
Dab the sponge to release product.
Apply evenly to clean, wet footwear from a distance of about 15cm, ensuring coverage along seams.
After 2 minutes, remove any excess with a cloth.
Allow footwear to dry naturally before use.

Note: Light or coloured nubuck and suede may darken after treatment. Test on a hidden area first.

Drying Instructions

Always allow footwear to dry naturally at room temperature.
Stuff paper into the toes to absorb moisture, replacing when wet.
Keep footwear away from direct heat sources such as fires or radiators, as drying too quickly may crack leather or damage bonded soles.
