Description

Wind protection is most useful on a run when it can stay in the pack through sheltered sections and appear only when the route turns exposed. The North Face Men's Fontanales Wind Jacket uses lightweight WindWall™ fabric and packs into its own stow pocket for running, hiking and outdoor training.

The 74 g/m² double weave is made from polyester and reduces the chilling effect of moving air while maintaining useful breathability. A non-PFC durable water-repellent finish helps brief showers and spray bead away, although this is a wind layer rather than a waterproof shell.

Worn over a technical T-shirt, the low-bulk construction provides protection without adding heavy insulation. Once conditions settle, the jacket compresses into its own pocket and fits neatly inside a running vest or daypack.

Packable, breathable and focused on exposed conditions, the Fontanales is designed for sessions where wind protection is necessary for only part of the route.

About the brand

The North Face

The North Face began in 1966 as a small climbing and camping shop in San Francisco, started by two outdoor enthusiasts who wanted to supply serious adventurers with gear they could trust. It took its name from the coldest, most demanding face of a mountain, and that spirit of pushing boundaries has shaped the brand ever since.

Today The North Face is known worldwide for jackets, footwear and packs built to perform in rain, wind and snow. From forest walks to summit scrambles, its gear is made to protect you through changeable conditions and long days outdoors, whatever Ireland's skies decide to do.

That reliability comes from proven materials and technologies, including GORE-TEX for waterproof, breathable protection and ThermoBall insulation for packable warmth. It is gear designed to keep up, on the trail and off it.
