Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ Spray-On is an easy-to-use, high-performance waterproofing treatment designed specifically for softshell garments. It adds Durable Water Repellency (DWR), restores breathability, and maintains internal wicking performance — keeping your gear comfortable in changing conditions.
Why Breathability Depends on Water Repellency
Softshell jackets are designed to breathe while protecting you from the elements. But when the outer fabric absorbs water, breathability can drop by up to 70%, leaving you feeling damp and uncomfortable.
Maintaining the DWR coating is essential. Over time, it wears off and needs to be renewed with Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ to keep your gear performing properly.

When to Use Nikwax SoftShell Proof™

- Step 1: Clean it with Nikwax Tech Wash® to remove dirt and residues.
- Step 2: If water no longer beads on the surface, apply SoftShell Proof™ to restore DWR.
Spray-On vs Wash-In
- Spray-On: Best for softshells with wicking linings. It restores DWR without affecting moisture-wicking performance and allows targeted application on high-wear areas like elbows and seams.
- Wash-In: Ideal for softshells without wicking linings. It provides full coverage in a washing machine for even waterproofing.

How to Apply Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ Spray-On

Important: Shake well before use. Conventional detergents can damage water repellency. Always clean first with Nikwax Tech Wash®.

Application

Protect your work surface from potential overspray.
Spray evenly onto clean, wet fabric from a distance of approximately 15cm.
Wait 5 minutes, then remove any surplus product with a damp cloth.

Drying Instructions

Nikwax SoftShell Proof™ treated clothing does not require heat to activate Durable Water Repellency (DWR).
Air dry, or tumble dry on a low setting if the care label allows.

Care Advice

To maintain waterproofing, always wash with Nikwax Tech Wash®.
Do not use conventional detergents.
