The North Face's wind-resistant fabric, made to greatly reduce wind chill while staying breathable and flexible. A fabric-bonding process blocks much of the wind to protect the warm layer of air next to your skin, and a water-repellent finish sheds light moisture. It cuts wind without the full seal of a waterproof shell, so it suits cool, breezy conditions.

The North Face's own synthetic insulation, a continuous synthetic filament that traps warmth in the spaces between its fibres. It gives a high warmth-to-weight ratio that holds up even when wet, and stays durable, breathable and easy to compress. The Eco version is made largely from recycled polyester, and it works as a light outer layer or a midlayer under a shell.

A touchscreen-friendly glove feature from The North Face. Conductive material is bonded to the fingertips so you can use a phone or other touchscreen without taking the glove off, which keeps your hands covered in the cold while you check a map or take a call.
