Step-by-Step: How to Reproof Your Waterproof Jacket
- Clean first. Dirt, sweat, and detergent residue block waterproof membranes. Use Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash instead of regular detergent.
- Reproof next. After washing, apply Nikwax TX.Direct Wash-In or Grangers Performance Repel Plus to restore waterproof protection.
- Dry correctly. Air-dry or tumble dry on low heat to help reactivate the DWR coating.
- Repeat as needed. Reproof every few months or whenever rain stops beading on the fabric.
