Fjällräven clothing care and Greenland Wax

Looking after outdoor fabric keeps it performing and dramatically extends its life, and Fjällräven's care range makes that easy to do at home.

Reproof and protect G-1000

Greenland Wax works into Fjällräven's G-1000 fabric to boost its water and wind resistance, letting you tune the same garment from breathable to more weatherproof as the conditions demand.

Simple to apply at home

Rubbing on the wax and warming it into the fabric with an iron or hairdryer is a quick, satisfying job that needs no special skills, just a little time.

Extends the life of your kit

Regular reproofing keeps fabric shedding water instead of wetting out, which protects the garment, keeps you drier and delays the day you need to replace it.

Adapt the fabric to conditions

Applying more or less wax lets you set how weatherproof a garment is, so one pair of trousers or one jacket can flex from warm-weather breathability to wetter-day protection.

Frequently asked questions

What is Greenland Wax and what is it for?

Greenland Wax is Fjällräven's blend of beeswax and paraffin, made to treat its G-1000 fabric. Worked into the cloth, it increases water and wind resistance, letting you adapt a garment to conditions and refresh its weather protection over time.

How do I apply Greenland Wax?

Rub the wax bar onto the fabric, applying more to areas that need extra protection, then warm it in with an iron on a suitable setting or a hairdryer so it melts into the weave. Add more coats for greater water resistance, and reheat to refresh.

Which garments can I wax?

Greenland Wax is designed for G-1000 and similar hard-wearing cotton and polyester fabrics, such as many Fjällräven trousers, jackets and packs. It is not intended for technical membrane fabrics or delicate materials, so check the garment's care guidance first.

How often do I need to reapply?

As often as the fabric needs it, which depends on use and washing. When you notice water soaking in rather than beading, or after washing off old wax, it is time to reproof. Areas of high wear like the seat and shoulders usually need it sooner.
