Buying guide: Outwell sleeping gear

A comfortable night's sleep on camp depends on two things: a sleeping bag rated for the temperature you will face, and a mat that insulates you from the ground below. Outwell's sleeping range covers both, with options for adults and children across campsite conditions.

Sleeping bags for Irish camping

For three-season camping in Ireland, a sleeping bag with a comfort rating around 0°C is a reliable choice. Irish nights rarely get warm enough to make a lightweight summer bag comfortable outside of peak July and August, and can drop to near single digits even in summer at higher elevations or exposed sites. The Outwell Contour Lux covers this range well for adults. The Convertible Junior is designed for children and doubles as a quilt for warmer nights.

Self-inflating sleeping mats

A self-inflating mat uses open-cell foam inside a sealed valve — open the valve and it draws air in automatically, topping up with a few breaths to your preferred firmness. The Outwell Dreamcatcher Double and Sleepin Single provide good insulation and cushioning from the ground, which is essential for warmth and back comfort on multi-night stays.

Frequently asked questions

What sleeping gear does Outwell make?

Outwell makes sleeping bags for adults and children, self-inflating sleeping mats, airbeds, camp pillows, duvets and integrated sleeping beds. The range covers everything from a basic mat and sleeping bag to a full comfort setup with airbed and bedding.

What temperature rating do I need for camping in Ireland?

For three-season camping in Ireland, a sleeping bag rated to around 0°C comfort is a safe choice. Irish summers rarely get warm enough for a very lightweight bag to be comfortable outside of peak July and August. A self-inflating mat or airbed alongside any sleeping bag is recommended to insulate from cold ground.

What is the Outwell Convertible Junior Sleeping Bag?

The Convertible Junior is a children's sleeping bag that converts between a full mummy-style sleeping bag and an open quilt. The convertible design lets it adapt to warmer or cooler conditions and extends the useful temperature range of a single bag across different seasons.
