Patagonia Insulated Vests
Frequently asked questions
When should I choose a vest over a jacket?
Choose a vest when you want to warm your core but keep your arms free to move, which suits active days and milder weather. A full jacket makes more sense when you need warmth and coverage on your arms too. Many people own both and switch depending on the day.
How do I wash a Patagonia insulated vest?
Wash on a gentle cold cycle without fabric softener. Synthetic vests can go on a low tumble dry, while down vests are best tumbled low with a couple of dryer balls to restore loft. Make sure a down vest is fully dry before storing.
Are Patagonia vests down or synthetic?
Both. Synthetic styles like the Nano Puff keep warming when damp and dry fast, which suits wet Irish conditions, while down vests give more warmth for their weight and pack smaller for cold, dry days.
Can I layer a Patagonia vest under a shell?
Yes, a vest is one of the most versatile layers you can own. Worn over a base layer or fleece and under a waterproof shell, it adds core warmth exactly where you need it without bulking up your arms or restricting movement. Many styles use packable insulation that compresses small, so the vest is easy to carry when you are not wearing it. It is an ideal way to fine-tune warmth on changeable days.
