The Garmin Forerunner 70 Running Smartwatch is an easy-to-use GPS running watch for new runners, with a colourful AMOLED touchscreen and up to 13 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. You get distance and pace from built-in GPS, with wrist-based heart rate running alongside.

Quick workout builds a run on the watch from the time you have and the intensity you're after. Garmin Coach plans adapt daily around your recovery, and the beginner plans mix in run/walk sessions at a lower training volume.

The evening report previews your sleep needs and tomorrow's workout before you go to bed. Lifestyle logging lets you record habits like caffeine and alcohol, and Health Status flags trends in your data that may point to added strain.

Wrist-based running power and running dynamics give you a read on effort and form as you improve. Built-in sports apps cover more than 80 activities, cycling and pool swimming among them, so the watch earns its place on cross-training days too.
