A curved, rockered sole smooths the transition from landing to toe-off, encouraging an efficient stride over technical ground.

A stabilising plate in the midsole returns energy for a snappier ride and shields the foot from sharp rocks and roots underfoot.

Grip for technical trails

Are The North Face trail shoes good for Irish trails?

Yes. Their grippy outsoles handle the mud, grass and rock of Irish trails, and the VECTIV ride helps on long, rough routes. Check each product page for whether a model is waterproof.

Can I run on roads in trail running shoes?

You can cover short sections of road to link up trails, but the aggressive lugs wear faster on tarmac and feel firm underfoot, so they are not the best choice for mostly-road runs. If your route is more road than trail, a road shoe suits better. Keep trail shoes for the soft, rough and muddy ground they are built for.
