What is Omni-Heat?
Omni-Heat is Columbia's thermal reflective lining, a pattern of metallic dots that reflects your body heat back to you. It adds warmth without extra bulk, so a jacket can be lighter for the same heat.
What is the difference between down and synthetic insulation?
Down gives the most warmth for its weight and packs down smallest, but loses warmth when wet. Synthetic fill is a little bulkier but keeps insulating when damp and dries faster, which suits wet climates.
Are these jackets warm enough for winter?
Yes, Columbia insulated jackets are made for cold weather, and the Omni-Heat lining boosts the warmth. For the coldest days choose a higher-fill down or a thicker synthetic, or layer one under a waterproof shell.
