Deuter Child Carriers
Frequently asked questions
What age and weight can a Deuter child carrier take?
Most families start once a child can sit unaided and hold their head steady, usually around six months, and keep using it to roughly age three. Deuter rates the combined load of child, pack and gear to around 22kg, so weigh your child plus what you plan to carry rather than looking at their weight alone.
How do I choose between the different Deuter carriers?
The range spans lighter, more ventilated carriers built for shorter walks and warm days, through to models with more storage and heavier padding for longer, colder outings. If most of your walks are local and short, a lighter carrier is usually plenty. If you head out for full days in all weather, the extra storage and padding earn their weight.
Can my partner and I share one carrier?
Yes. The back length adjusts, so one carrier moves between adults of different heights. If there is a big height gap, or a shorter adult finds a standard fit sits too tall, the SL version is the more comfortable choice for them.
Do I need extra accessories like a sun roof or raincover?
They are sold separately and are genuinely useful in Irish weather, but none is essential to use the carrier. You can add them later once you know how much you are getting out with it.
