Deuter Daypacks
Frequently asked questions
What size daypack do I need for hiking?
For short local walks, trail running or a travel day bag, around 13 to 17 litres carries water, a layer and the essentials. For full days on the hill with lunch, spare layers and more water, roughly 17 to 22 litres gives you room without being oversized. When in doubt, size up slightly rather than cramming a smaller pack.
Are Deuter daypacks waterproof?
The fabrics are water-resistant and shrug off light showers, but they are not fully waterproof, which is normal for lightweight packs. For sustained Irish rain, pair the pack with a Deuter raincover or line it with a dry bag to keep the contents dry.
What does the SL fit change?
SL is Deuter's slim-line women's fit. It shortens the back length and narrows the shoulder straps and hipbelt so the pack sits correctly on a smaller frame. It is not women-only in practice, as plenty of shorter-torso adults find it the better fit.
Can I use a Deuter daypack for travel or cycling, not just hiking?
Yes. The light weight and close fit make the smaller sizes handy as a cabin or day bag, and they are comfortable for casual cycling. They are designed hiking-first, so features like compression and a hipbelt come as a bonus for everyday use rather than a drawback.
