What is the difference between a wind jacket and a waterproof?
A wind jacket blocks wind and sheds light showers while staying very light and breathable, whereas a waterproof uses a dedicated membrane to keep out sustained rain but is usually heavier and less breathable. A wind jacket is ideal for dry, blustery days and as a packable layer.
Are Fjällräven jackets packable?
Many of the lighter wind and shell jackets pack down small, often into their own pocket, so they take up little room in a daypack. Packability varies by model, so check the product details if carrying it stowed is a priority for you.
How should I layer under a jacket?
In cool conditions, a base layer plus a mid-layer such as a sweatshirt or fleece under the jacket covers most days. Choose a jacket with a little room if you plan to layer heavily, so movement is not restricted over your warm layers.
How do I care for a Fjällräven jacket?
Follow the garment's care label, wash gently when needed, and reproof water-resistant fabrics as their performance drops. Keeping a jacket clean actually helps it shed water, since dirt in the fabric encourages it to wet out.
