Yes. MSR IsoPro canisters use the standard EN417 threaded valve, which fits the vast majority of screw-top canister stoves from other brands including Primus, Jetboil, Coleman and similar. They are not compatible with Campingaz bayonet-fitting stoves or stoves that require proprietary cartridges.

The simplest method is to weigh it — the empty weight is stamped on the base of the canister, so subtracting that gives you remaining fuel. You can also float it in water: a full canister sinks, a partially used one floats higher, and an empty one floats near the surface. Do not shake a canister to estimate remaining fuel by sound alone as this is unreliable.

Empty canisters must be punctured before recycling to release any residual pressure, then they can go in metal recycling. Do not put pressurised or unpunctured canisters in household recycling bins. Many outdoor retailers and campsites provide canister puncturing tools. Never incinerate or crush a canister that may still contain gas.
