Your foot should sit fully on the footbed with no overhang, and the straps should feel secure without pressing. If a strap is adjustable, set it snug enough that your foot does not slide forward when you walk downhill.

They will cope with getting wet and dry out quickly, but they are beach and summer sandals rather than dedicated water shoes. For rocky entries and reef, a proper water shoe or reef boot protects your feet far better.
