How should a tank top fit?
Close enough that the armholes sit flat against your body without gaping, and loose enough through the body to hang rather than cling. If the armholes gape when you move, size down, since that is a fit issue rather than a style one.
Can I wear it over a bikini?
Yes, that is one of the most common ways they are worn. A light cotton tank pulls on easily over damp swimwear and dries quickly, giving you a bit of sun cover on the walk back from the water.
Does a cotton tank protect against the sun?
Only a little, and considerably less when wet. Cotton offers some physical coverage but no meaningful UPF rating. For a long day in strong sun, particularly in or on the water, a UPF rash vest is far more effective.
How do I stop it stretching out?
Wash cool, dry flat or on a hanger rather than tumbling on heat, and avoid hanging it by the straps while wet, which is what pulls a tank out of shape at the shoulders over time.
